Domain Central Donation to Townsville Flood Relief
Dec 4, 2019

In February 2019, Townsville’s Domain Central partnered with its retailers to donate over $100,000 worth of household goods to locals in need in response to the devastating floods that inundated the area.

Domain Central worked in conjunction with its retailers to donate to GIVIT’s Queensland Flood Appeal, delivering brand-new, vital goods such as washing machines, bed linen, and household electronics to locals affected by the flooding and loss of property.

Domain Central Centre Manager, Sandy Corbett, said that the magnitude of the floods was unprecedented and had left many members of the local community in need of basic household goods.

“The floods have been absolutely devastating to so many members of our community here in Townsville and have left many residents with nothing," Ms Corbett said.

“Our work with over 60 Domain Central retailers has facilitated the donation of over $100,000 worth of vital household goods to those most in need, to help them start rebuilding their lives and their homes.

GIVIT Founder and Director Juliette Write said the donation from Domain Central and its retailers would help support local individuals and families at this crucial time and provide urgently needed items to help in their recovery.

“Flooding caused by this unprecedented weather event has caused devastation and heartache across North Queensland so we are incredibly thankful to Domain Central and its retailers for this generous donation. What they are donating is exactly what’s required to help get residents back on their feet.

“I have seen many donation offers in 10 years, and this corporate donation is incredibly thoughtful. It is locals giving to locals, and this collaboration from Domain Central and its retailers is giving exactly what is needed by those in Townsville who have lost everything,” Ms Wright said.
